The threats in this first Neizel mission are limited: just a few gremlins and rodents. So there's no hurry to get the sentinels built. Get your base furnished comfortably, lay in a few supplies and then focus on the goal. Then in the second mission, Flying Terror, you'll be in a good defensive position.
At first Venus and Dean are the only colonists. Assign them to power and oxygen and wait for the others to arrive while you build up the base. Place basic facilities, such as a mess hall, hygiene pod and stair climber, which everyone on this job enjoys.
You only have one laser and can't buy more yet, so leave it where it is and buy argon as needed. Place an airlock on the left side of the bridge and remove the one near the laser. Then the laser will have more time to shoot pests before they reach the airlock. Although the rodents do carry disease, buying a medi bay and harvesting pharmaceuticals probably isn't necessary if you follow this strategy.
When Billy Bob and Nailer arrive, add a chicken farmer and iron extractor. Iron deposits are southwest and west of the base. The space bike isn't available yet, so your miner(s) will have to walk to work. That makes their work shift shorter. Make up for it with extra mining training.
Expanding and consolidating the base helps prepare for the next mission. Sell the airlock to the right of the bridge and place a small dome overlapping the existing corridors there. Another small dome fits nicely between the two upper domes. Add more corridors as needed. Keep rarely used objects in the medium dome and necessities close at hand. Install cleaning and maintenance posts and have Venus use them as needed. She can handle these jobs along with the power desk.
Keep selling iron and chicken and soon you'll have enough credits for your first sentinel post. Place it close to the base, preferably on the northeast or northwest side, since the acidwings will come from the southeast. Continue like that until you can buy the second sentinel.
