[next mission]

System: Eadfrid     Planet: Hengist

Training Programs Available: 4 (mining, nutrient extraction, pharmaceutical extraction, scavenging, bio research, power, oxygen, medi prep, cleaning and maintenance; library only)

Check the mission hints in-game by clicking the flashing light bulb icon near the bottom left of the screen. Also, see the general tips section of this site for hints and strategies that apply to all missions.

You have a few carry-over credits from the last mission, as well as iron to sell. The planet also has other resources: titanium, iridum, silicon and cylincsus. So you can choose how you want to earn the 15,000 credits. Here's one way to do it:

Concentrate on keeping your colonists happy. Work on earning credits as a secondary goal. Keep an eye on the colonist portraits along the bottom of the screen. If a portrait turns orange, immediately begin meeting that colonist's needs.

Good health helps raise overall happiness, so buy a medi bay soon. Dean can alternate medi prep and one of the other bridge stations. Send each operative for treatment, starting with Babette, one of whose special needs is health.

Use all or most of the training programs for cleaning. Keep after base litter, since cleanliness also helps maintain overall happiness. When all training programs have been used, sell the libraries to make space and earn credits.

Buy a few more recreational facilities and then concentrate on gathering and selling resources.

Mine and sell iron to buy a titanium extractor. Place that near the titanium deposits northwest of the base—not too close to the left edge of the map, though, since mutant bees enter the map there, and no repair facilities, weeding posts or lasers are available. Switch Stig to titanium, since he's the best miner, and assign Greg to mine iron. When you can afford it, place a Jacuzzi just inside the nearest entrance so Greg can pop in and out.

Use titanium credits to buy a scavenger. Place it near the iridum deposits northeast of the base. Assign Hoshi and/or Kita. Once you are collecting and selling iridium, it will not take long to meet the 15,000-credit goal. You can of course speed things along by continuing to sell ore, adding a pharmaceutical extractor, etc.
